Welcome to the magical and mystical year of transformation -- 2012! Synchronicity is already afoot, and I have been graced with three exhibitions of my paintings, details of which follow below. I've been working on several commissions, and some new paintings to be debuted at The Rose Cafe this spring. And look for my work in an upcoming article about eco-friendly art in the January/February issue of Art Business News, to be released in early February. Subscribe now so you don't miss it!
Onward into the new year, my friends! Let's do our most inspired work yet, whatever our work may be. Thank you for sharing the journey with me, for your generous support of my art, and for being a part of my life. I look forward to hearing what you're up to this auspicious year! Friend me on Facebook, add me to your mailing list, or send me an e-mail message.
Happy New Year! May you be well, prosper and thrive.
As always,

Recent Commissions

I had the great pleasure of meeting Erica and Jason Hogan when they visited my studio during a trip to Los Angeles, and they commissioned me to create a painting for the dining room of their new home in Houston, TX. The dining room chairs are upholstered in a plum fabric, and Erica requested blues and greens that would complement the plum. The finished piece is large -- 36 inches high and 48 inches wide -- and it's the focal point of their open living space. Click on the image to see the painting larger.

The paintings to the left and below were created for the beautiful light-filled living room of an elegant home in Malibu, CA. The diptych hangs on a large wall over the couch, opposite a wall of windows looking out onto the Malibu hills. The client requested blues with complementary colors, and asymmetrically sized canvases. The finished pieces are 36 x 24 inches and 36 x 36 inches. Click on the images to see the piece larger. |

New Paintings!
|
| I've been having fun in the studio, and I created these three paintings for my upcoming show at The Rose Cafe. Large artwork looks best at The Rose, and each of these paintings measures 40 x 30 inches. I saw some early-blooming pansies, which gave me the idea to work with the secondary colors -- purple, green and orange. Click on the image to see the paintings larger. |

With a long-standing interest in incorporating nontoxic and eco-friendly materials into her artwork, artist Cassandra Tondro uses leftover acrylic latex paint – better known as house paint – in her paintings. She rescues the paint from recycling centers in the Los Angeles area before it is sent to landfills, and also combs the "mistint" shelves of home improvement stores.
Cassandra's paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. Her work is in numerous public, corporate and private collections. In addition, one of her paintings was selected for the American Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon in conjunction with the Art in Embassies Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. |
