March 2010

Spring is here! Well, for some of us, anyway. I'm sorry for those of you who are still snowbound. To celebrate I have new spring paintings available in my Etsy shop, three of which are pictured below.

ARTconnectsLA continues to do placements of artwork in local healthcare facilities, community centers, and social service agencies. This month they placed one of my large paintings at the new Irma Colen Family Health Center in Mar Vista, along with the work of several other artists.

I'm excited to be doing a show at The Bergamot Station Cafe in September. It might seem early to be thinking about it, but it takes a long time to plan a cohesive show and to make the work for it. I want to do new paintings for this show, and it's not too soon to get started on them.

Happy Equinox everyone! I hope you have a glorious spring.

Best wishes,

Design Milk

Earlier this week, three of my paintings were featured on Design Milk, an online magazine dedicated to modern design. Design Milk features what's fresh and new in art, architecture, interior design, furniture and decor, fashion, and technology. They have a number of columnists, with multiple posts daily, and it's beautifully done.

You can see their post about my paintings on Art Milk, the art offshoot of their site. They also have a site called Dog Milk that's cute -- modern design for modern dogs!

Mentoring

I recently began a mentor relationship with another artist, Georgianne Holland, of Westminster, CO. Georgianne makes beautiful folk art pillows, felt wine coolers, and other hand felted items, and you can see her work on her Etsy shop and blog. This is my first experience with mentoring, and I didn't realize how much I know about art marketing until I started conversing with Georgianne. It's great to be able to share all of this accumulated knowledge with someone, and I hope I can be of help to her. I'm looking forward to watching her career take off! You go girl!

New Work

It's spring, and I felt inspired to create some new artwork for the season. These three paintings are from my small works series, and they range in size from 4 x 4 inches to 8 x 10 inches. I have paintings to brighten all spaces and to fit all budgets. You can see more of my small paintings on my Etsy shop, and my large paintings on my website.

I especially like the soft palette of Wildflowers and Spring, and the flower-like forms. Two of the larger paintings in my spring series are Spring Forward and Undergrowth.

Testimonials

This month I'm sharing some of the kind letters and e-mail messages that I receive about my work. These are what keep me going!

I just wanted to say how much I enjoy getting your emails of your latest artwork. I really love to show the students that I have how you work with paint that is affordable. They really like to see what you are doing next, as well as I. Thanks for the great art that you show. We love it!!

Dear Cassandra, Just a note to say thank you. Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA was fortunate enough to receive "Moon River" through a donation from The Art Connection. Your work now hangs proudly in our hospital, making patients' visits a more enjoyable experience. Thank you.
Heather Linehan, Development Officer

Hi Cassandra, I really enjoy receiving your newsletters. Your new paintings and cards are great. I love the way you keep on trying new things and techniques. The photos of you painting show how much you love what you're doing. I'm still doing hard edge paintings but when I see your Oops paintings it makes me feel like doing them again. I've included a link to my Gallery 6 paintings that are my latest. Keep up the great work.
