I went to the opening reception for the "Insight/Inside LA" show at Mt. St. Mary's College, and it was packed full of people! There were so many people that I hadn't seen in a while, and I spent hours just catching up with everyone. It's a large show with work from established and emerging Los Angeles artists. It was a challenging installaltion because of the number of pieces, and they did a good job of hanging the work so that it looks coherent. The exhibit is up until April 4th, and if you're in Los Angeles, it is a show worth seeing.
Hope you're all enjoying a perfect spring!

New Paintings
I've been working in the studio, and these are some of my new "Oops!" paintings -- acrylic latex paint on canvas.
Acrylic latex paint is self-leveling, and it often settles overnight, while the paint is drying. Emergence settled in a particularly interesting and serendipitious way, forming what looks like a butte or a volcano. MiddayStratus is a landscape in a vertical format, rather than the usual horizontal shape. And Cacophony uses many techniques and layers to create a three-dimensional look.
You can see more of my latest work and experiments on my blog: www.tondro.com/blog.html. |
