We're nearing the end of summer, and I've been producing cards like crazy! I'm working on a line of handmade greeting cards that are frameable as art. You can see some of them below and on my website. In the fall I also want to do some ecoprint cards with fallen leaves. The eoprints look fantastic on watercolor paper.
As the seasons shift, so does my painting. The paintings take longer to dry when the weather gets cool, and the shorter days give me less studio time. Everything slows down a bit, as is the tendency in winter.
Hope you're enjoying these last days of summer before the fall!
Best wishes,

Frameable Cards
I'm working on a series of art cards, to be sold individually and in sets of ten. Each card is a unique work or art, hand painted on deckle-edged watercolor paper, and frameable.
The cards come with matching envelopes and are perfect for special occasions and unique gifts.
You can see the entire collection thus far on my website, and purchase them using Paypal. |

Hearts for Anna
Artful Home is organizing a five-day online event for Anna Millea, a longtime Guild and Artful Home artist. Anna is fighting breast cancer, is uninsured, and is in need of sixteen rounds of chemotherapy. The "Hearts for Anna" online sale is August 12-16, in which miniature artworks, no larger than 5" x 7", will be sold. The items will be sold first-come, first serve, with all items selling for $100 on Day 1, $75 on Days 2 - 4, and $50 on Day 5. All money will go to a fund that goes directly to Anna Millea to help pay for her medical bills. In addition, 5% of all Artful Home sales on these five days will be donated to Anna as well.
Two of my miniature paintings (pictured below) will be offered as part of this worthy cause. You can preview the artwork that has been donated on Flickr. Starting tomorrow, Wednesday August 12, at 10:00 am Central Time, you can purchase the "Hearts for Anna" artwork here.

Getty Conservation Institute
I donated three paintings to the Getty Conservation Institute, and in exchange I was invited to tour their restoration facilities. The Conservation Institute restores paintings for museums all over the world, and they were looking for acrylic and acrylic latex paintings from contemporary artists to experiment with.
Their facilities are amazing, and include x-ray equipment for large paintings and an entire room for spraying varnish.
Tiarna Dohery graciously showed me around. Her advice to artists is to document your materials so that conservators in the future will know what they're dealing with when your artwork needs restoration. |

The Art Connection
One of my paintings is featured on The Art Connection home page this month in conjunction with a placement they did at the Boston Public Health Commission.
From The Art Connections's website: "The Boston Public Health Commission's mission is to protect, promote, and preserve the health and well-being of all Boston residents, particularly the most vulnerable. The donated art will hang in the waiting areas, meeting rooms, and hallways of their various programs to enhance the mental, physical, and social environment that clients experience when they access services at BPHC. The donated art lifts the spirits of both the clients and employees and makes everyone feel better about giving and/or receiving help. It also reminds BPHC visitors daily of the beauty they see in each person who walks through their doors."
It brings me great pleasure when my art finds a home where it will be appreciated! |
