April is the time of year when my creativity springs back to life and it's fun to be in the studio again. The weather is warmer and the days are longer. The studio is lighter and brighter. Flowers are in bloom everywhere, and the color combinations inspire my work.

Lately I've been working on a new series of paintings that use plants dyes and Earth pigments. You can see the dyeing and printing experiments that inform this work on my blog. I hope to have some finished pieces to show you in another month or two.

I am one of the founding partners of a new non-profit start-up, ARTconnectsLA. ARTconnectsLA is modeled after The Art Connection in Boston. We serve the artist community and Los Angeles by placing original artwork in social service agencies, community centers and non-profit organizations where the art can be experienced and appreciated by the public.

As part of our pilot project, we are currently working on placing art in two agencies, Common Ground and the Simms/Mann Health and Wellness Center, both in Santa Monica.

We are working with several artists, and are looking for more who would be interested in donating work to this worthy project.
