The US Green Building Council’s LEED certification program is recognized as the paramount guideline of environmental building protocol in the United States. The following information can be used as a guide toward understanding how Cassandra's paintings may contribute toward LEED certification credits under various LEED systems:
- Materials and Resources, Materials Reuse
- Materials and Resources, Construction Waste Management: Diverting Materials from Disposal
- Innovation and Design Process, Innovation in Design: Sustainable Artwork Not Addressed by an Existing LEED Credit
- Innovation and Design Process, Innovation in Design: Public Education Outreach Program
If indoor air quality is a concern, Cassandra will create custom paintings using zero VOC paints.
Cassandra uses repurposed acrylic latex paint, also known as house paint or post-consumer architectual paint. Repurposed paint is paint that would otherwise be discarded and go to waste. Cassandra acquires the paint from local recycling centers and the "mistint" shelves of home improvement stores.
In addition, leftover paint from your site can be incorporated into the paintings, thus diverting site materials from disposal. |
