I came out of my studio at sunset, and saw this in the western sky. What is it? It looked like a huge luminescent squiggle in the sky. I dropped everything, ran for my camera, and quickly took a picture. A minute later it was gone.
Oh! This must be the rocket launch then. I was lucky to get the picture at all. I was wildly shooting in the dark with no time to adjust the camera settings, because it was rapidly disappearing. In Photoshop, the images were all black until I adjusted the contrast, and then I had this. It's grainy, or whatever the digital equivalent of grainy is, but at least I got something!
I am an artist, living and working in the Los Angeles area. I consider myself to be part "mad scientist," because I'm interested in observing the effects of combining unorthodox materials and manipulating paint in unusual ways.

John had heard about a rocket launch that was supposed to be visible in the western sky at 7:15 but it was foggy here.
Good catch!
